The Huntwick neighborhood has a strong sense of community among its residents, often centered around the focal points of our clubhouse and parks. The Huntwick Recreation Facilities are owned and maintained by Harris County WCID No. 116 for the benefit of the community served by the District.
The facilities are located at 5300 Coral Gables and 13715 Charwell Crossing. A clubhouse, six tennis courts, swimming pool, two playgrounds, athletic fields, and a bark park are located on the properties. The fields and playgrounds are open to all residents of HC WCID 116 and all Patrons of the recreation facilities.
House Patrons may rent the clubhouse and join All-Patron groups which use the clubhouse for parties, meetings, and other events. Full Patrons enjoy the same benefits as House Patrons, with the added benefit of use and rental of swimming and tennis facilities.
Clubhouse
The clubhouse located at 5300 Coral Gables is a multi-functional building. A formal area is ideal for small groups and adult activities. The informal area includes a 24 foot by 36 foot great room and a 20 foot by 25 foot pool table room. A kitchen is attached to the informal area.
The richly-paneled formal area has an attractive reception area furnished with chairs and a couch perfect for small groups to gather. The main formal area is furnished with six tables and 20 leather chairs. The tables can be configured into a conference table arrangement. A wet bar area is appointed with a small sink and refrigerator.
The informal area is an open area perfect for larger groups to gather, make presentations, and can serve as an activities room.
For a large group the combined area allows for seated dinner events and multi-use parties. The pool table can be covered for buffet service.
The kitchen includes a full-size refrigerator, oven with cook top, ice machine, and microwave oven.
The clubhouse is used by a number of Patron community groups for regular meetings, and is available for rent by Patrons.
Swimming Pool
The swimming pool is located at 5300 Coral Gables directly behind the clubhouse. Huntwick’s sparkling pool includes a state-of-the-art disinfection system which reduces harsh chemical use. A children’s pool, dubbed the Children’s Cement Pond, has a sunning shelf and colorful mosaic fish and turtle tiles.
The main pool includes a diving board with a deep landing area and six 25-meter lanes in the shallow section. A basketball backboard and net inspire many games of pool basketball.
The pool area is lighted for evening use and can be rented outside regular hours of pool operation. The deck is expansive with an adjacent large grass lawn for groups to mingle. Full Patrons use the pool during regular pool hours from May through Labor Day, and weekends in September. The Huntwick Patriots Swim Team holds practices and league swim meets at the pool during May and June.
Tennis Courts
Two lighted tennis courts are located at 5300 Coral Gables and four at 13715 Charwell Crossing. The courts are kept in excellent condition through regular maintenance and limiting their use to tennis. The tennis courts also utilize an electronic access control system.
Tennis leagues and All-Patron events have priority use of the courts. However, much of the time one or more courts may be used by Patrons for individual play.
Playgrounds
There is playground equipment and picnic tables at each location, enjoyed as a gathering place by families with young children. The playgrounds are open to all HC WCID 116 residents, HRF Patrons, and their accompanied guests.
Athletic Fields
Located at 13715 Charwell Crossing these areas may be reserved by Patrons for team practices. When not reserved, the areas are open to all District residents, HRF Patrons, and their accompanied guests.
Huntwick Bark Park
Located at 13715 Charwell Crossing, the Bark Park is a leash-free exercise area open to all dog owners who are District residents, HRF Patrons, or their accompanied guests. Pets must remain on a leash in all other District areas. Dog owners are required by law to pick up after their dogs on all District property. Pet waste disposal bags and refuse containers are available for convenient use.
Community Groups
The Huntwick Recreation Facilities are a perfect venue for community groups. A number of groups use the HRF for meetings and parties. The All-Patron groups that use the HRF currently include:
- Women’s Club
- Empty Nesters’ Club
- Tennis Leagues for all levels
- Huntwick Patriots Swim Team
Patrons may form All-Patron groups revolving around their interests, and enjoy having convenient facilities to hold gatherings and further their pastimes. Tennis teams enjoy area league competition and camaraderie. The tennis groups also hold All-Patron social events.
The Huntwick Civic Association holds monthly and annual meetings in the clubhouse.

Rental Fees
The clubhouse, pool area, and tennis courts are available to Patrons for event rental. The rates are based on the specific areas reserved and the size and duration of the event. Patrons should contact the HRF using the contact information below:
